Biographical Statement:  I am interested in how human cultures adapt to their environments, their interactions with the animals, plants, fungi, algae and materials within it from an archaeological perspective.  I majored in Biology and Anthropology at the University of Rhode Island, and chose to continue my research at the University of Maine. I am especially interested in human habitation around and on rivers, lakes, wetlands and coastlines.

Research Area: I am working on a comparison of zooarchaeological assemblages from Huarmey, Peru specifically on creating a reference collection of the fish remains represented. I intend to investigate the seasonality of this site, as well as to take sediment cores from a nearby field that was once home to a lagoon, analyze the microfossils within it and determine more about the environmental changes of the area over time. I appreciate the human/social dynamics of archaeological investigation, while also considering the plants, animals, fungi and algae as their own unique characters within archaeological work.
