Graduate Research Assistant
Faculty Advisor: Dr. Jasmine Saros
Office Location: 128 Sawyer Environmental Research Building
Biographical Statement: I am a Master’s student in the School of Biology and Ecology and a trainee in the Systems Approaches to Understanding and Navigating the New Arctic (SAUNNA) NRT Program. I graduated from Middlebury College in 2020 with a degree in Geobiology and minors in German and Music. For my thesis I investigated the geomicrobial processes in Winter Wonderland Ice Cave in the Uinta Mountains. Since graduating I worked for the Desert Research Institute investigating cold adaptation in Antarctica microorganisms and for the Flathead Lake Biological Station (University of Montana), studying nitrogen cycling and microbial dynamics in lake and ocean environments. In my free time I enjoy singing, cooking curries, backpacking, and climbing.
Research Areas: In the Saros lab, I will be studying nitrogen cycling and microbial metabolisms in glacially fed lakes and rivers in Greenland.
