Biographical Statement: 

Biographical Statement: I am a 23 year social studies teacher and a first year Master’s student in the Earth and Climate Science Program. As a 2020 PolarTREC Educator, a National Geographic Grosvenor Teacher Fellow and an alumni of global professional development programs including Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Program, Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Kazakhstan, Fulbright Hays Seminars Abroad China, German-American Exchange Commission’s Education in Germany Program, and Fulbright Collaborative Groups Abroad Projects Ethiopia, I have traveled the world extensively to develop global and polar educational programming and materials for Maine high school students.  I most recently participated in fieldwork  on the Western Greenland Ice Sheet with the Greenland Subglacial Tremor Project, sharing the experience directly with students and colleagues from the Arctic. I create practical lessons that address global and environmental issues using inquiry and action based social studies and science methodologies. I share curriculum ideas related to visual science communication that connect polar science and social, political, and economic conflict with students and educators at state, national, and global levels. I am a professional digital and drone photographer.

 

Research Area:  Interdisciplinary Arctic curriculum design that relates directly to Maine, visual science communication, and glaciology.
