Research Area:

My research interests include landslides (especially those triggered by earthquakes), the history of the El Niño phenomenon, and geoarchaeology.  In collaboration with Prof. Daniel Sandweiss and other archaeologists, I am currently combining those interests in field research in Peru, which involves studying earthquake and El Niño effects preserved in both Holocene sediments and archaeological sites along the coast and in the Andes. In addition, I am analyzing a worldwide database of landslides triggered by earthquakes, compiled from a wide variety of post-earthquake field investigations undertaken during the last several decades.
