Biographical Statement: I am a PhD student working with Dr. Kristin Schild, using remote sensing and machine learning to study how glaciated landscapes change. I received a BA in Earth System Science and an MS in Geographic Information Science, both from Clark University. Before returning to graduate school I did GIS work in Fairbanks, Alaska and Yellowstone National Park, and then spent four years as a Senior Geospatial Analyst at the Environmental Defense Fund, where we launched MethaneSAT — the first nonprofit satellite — to track methane emissions.
Research Area: My research focuses on detecting and predicting land surface change in glaciated and alpine environments. I work with satellite imagery and UAV photogrammetry and have a broad interest in using ground-based measurements as training data for deep learning remote sensing models that can identify unstable terrain at much larger scales.
