Bio:

Simona received her Bachelor’s degree at SUNY Fredonia in Environmental Science. She started studying diatoms in her third year there and by her senior year received a grant to study Bear Lake in Stockton county, New York. During that project, she studied parameters including water quality and the phytoplankton community. Now she is pursuing a Master’s degree to then move forward to get her Ph.D. in Ecology and Environmental Science.

 

Research Area:

Simona currently works with Dr. Jasmine Saros studying Maine lakes. Her main research interest is how nutrients such as Nitrogen and Phosphorus affect lakes in the Maine area.
