Biographical Statement:  Dr. Lizi (Lela) Gadrani is a Research Associate at the Institut des Géosciences de l’Environnement (IGE), CNRS–Université Grenoble Alpes, France. She completed her PhD in Earth and Climate Sciences at the University of Maine, where her research focused on Antarctic ice-core records, paleoclimate reconstruction, and ice-core geochemistry. Her research interests broadly include polar ice cores, past climate variability, volcanic records in ice, and glacier change. She also works on climate and glacier change in the Greater Caucasus.

Research Area:  Her current research focuses on volcanic signals preserved in polar ice cores. At IGE, she works on the identification and geochemical characterization of micron-scale volcanic ash particles in Antarctic and Greenland ice cores and their relationship to volcanic sulfate records. Her work combines microtephra geochemistry, electron microscopy and microanalysis, sulfur isotope measurements, and ice-core chemistry to investigate major volcanic events and improve correlations between polar ice-core records.

She also remains involved in research on Antarctic blue-ice archives and glacier–climate interactions in the Greater Caucasus, including long-term glacier change and the implications of climate variability for regional water resources.
