Biographical Sketch:
Braedon Lineman is a Ph.D. student in Biology at the University of Maine. He began his research career in 2019 while completing a B.S. in Agroecology at Montana State University, where he worked with the weed ecology lab on sustainable land management and plant community monitoring. Since then, Braedon has pursued a multidisciplinary research path focused on vegetation ecology, remote sensing, and spatial analysis to understand the dynamics of plant populations and ecosystems under environmental change. His experience spans national parks and forests, rangelands, and managed agricultural systems. He is particularly interested in linking ecological field data with high-resolution geospatial data to monitor alpine and forest systems.
Research Area:
Braedon’s current research uses spectroscopy and trait-based modeling, and phylogenetic analysis to study alpine and montane plant communities in the northeastern United States. Through his various research appointments he contributes to regional efforts monitoring snowpack decline, alpine phenology, and stream connectivity using remote sensors and spatial data pipelines. His applied research supports long-term conservation planning by improving the detection and interpretation of vegetation change across elevational and climatic gradients. In addition to his research, Braedon is committed to data stewardship, field-based mentorship, and public science communication and advancing the role of integrative ecological science in climate adaptation.
