BDN reports on new guide by Orono Bog Boardwalk founder, professor emeritus

The Bangor Daily News reported on a new book written by Ronald Davis, professor emeritus at the University of Maine School of Biology and Ecology and Climate Change Institute. Davis’ book, “Bogs and Fens: A Guide to Peatland Plants of the Northeastern United States and Adjacent Canada,” was released June 7 by the University Press of New England. The resource covers 155 of the species of plants and serves as a guide to 78 peatlands with boardwalks throughout the region, according to the article. Davis is the founder of the 4,200-feet-long Orono Bog Boardwalk located in the Rolland F. Perry City Forest, commonly known as the Bangor City Forest. Today, the boardwalk is operated and managed by a committee and a group of devoted volunteers as a joint venture of UMaine, the city of Bangor and the Orono Land Trust, the article states.
