Biographical Statement: I am a Master’s student working with Dr. Jacqueline Gill, focusing on paleoecology. I earned a BS in biology with a minor in environmental sciences from the University of Iowa, where I studied the evolution and ecology of the New Zealand Mudsnail. While I enjoyed that research, my deeper passion lies in studying climate change, which motivated me to pursue further education.
Research Areas: My research interests focus on the intersection of biodiversity and climate change, with an emphasis on seabirds as indicators of environmental shifts. For my Master’s thesis, I propose studying long-term records of seabird populations and their impact on terrestrial ecosystems in the Arctic and Gulf of Maine. By analyzing sediment cores and guano deposits, I aim to reconstruct historical seabird populations to better understand past climate conditions and human impacts. This work is essential for guiding contemporary conservation efforts, particularly in fragile island ecosystems.
