Faculty Advisor:  Dr. Karl Kreutz

Biographical Statement:  I am a PhD student at the University of Maine School of Earth and Climate Sciences interested in what we can learn about and from glaciers. In addition to studying glaciers in an academic context, I have spent two summers guiding glacier trips in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and love getting folks outside and on ice! Before beginning my graduate work in glaciology, I received a BS in foreign service with a focus on the role of science and technology in international affairs. I’m excited to explore connections between the physical systems I study and the social and political context in which they exist.

Research Area:

My research interests sit at the intersection of glacier behavior today and the information they hold about past climate. In particular, I combine geophysical methods and remote sensing to study surface melt and its effect on climate records preserved in glacier ice.
