Seattle Times interviews Isenhour on thrift stores

Cindy Isenhour, associate professor of anthropology and climate change, spoke with The Seattle Times for an article titled “Do Seattle-area thrift stores still offer treasures at bargain prices?” Isenhour said that thrift stores traditionally see higher demand during periods of high cost of living. “When we see the price of new goods rise, and they become less affordable for some people,” she said, “there’s more demand for secondhand products.” Isenhour also said thrifting is associated with environmentalism, especially in cities like Seattle.
