JOIN archaeologist Gregory Zaro as he peels back the urban layers of
the ancient city of Zadar along Croatia’s Adriatic coast to offer insight on its perseverance into the twenty-first century. From the Iron Age to the Romans to the European Union, the city has proven to be resilient in the face of long-term change. What lessons does it hold?
Dr. Gregory Zaro is an associate professor of anthropology and climate
change at the University of Maine. His work centers on the intersections between urbanization, agricultural landscape change, and the environment, from past to present. He has conducted field programs in Andean South America, Central America, and currently, the Mediterranean.
