Questionnaire Results

Results are in! With nearly 75 respondents to the questionnaire, we received some great feedback from the community that will help to organize topics of discussion. Check out some of the results below.

Dates and Time of the conference: Based on community feedback (Fig. 1), we are hosting the virtual conference in early April, 2022. There will be a follow-up session to summarize results and take-aways. All meetings on each day will be held from 8:00 am – 12:00pm PST; 11:00 am – 3:00 pm EST; 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm GMT. The selected times are meant to make the conference accessible to attendees from around the globe. Please note, all meetings and presentations will be recorded and posted to this website shortly after for all to view.

Attendee Professional Backgrounds: Check Fig. 2 to see the range of professions of attendees. We expect participants from academia (all levels), government agencies, and the private sector as well as other professions.

This pie chart show results from a survey asking the professional background of each participant. 31.9% of participants are graduate students, 27.8% are professors, 11.1% are from a government organization, 11.1% are post docs, and the remaining participants come from a diverse background in Academia, Government, or Private sectors.

Topics of Interest: Questionnaire participants selected topics that they would both like to discuss (Fig. 3) and potentially present on (Fig. 4). This community feedback will help to organize daily sessions and drive discussions among participants.

Results showing peoples preferred topics of interest for the conference. Four topics were selected to be discussed by 75% or more of survey participants. These include 79.2% wanting discuss current polar and science logistics, 88.9% for science questions and logistics of radar, 75% for current and future state-of-the-art equipment, and 81.9% for Radar data software, analysis, and interpretation needs.

Results indicate that ~50% of survey participants would like to present on current polar science and logistics using radar as well as science questions and logistics requiring radar. ~25% of participants would like to present on Current and future state-of-the-art radar systems as well as Radar data software, analysis and interpretation needs.s
