DESCRIPTION:Defense Announcement\nElizabeth L. Leclerc\nQuaternary and Climate Studies\nGiving Form to Flow:\nModelling the Paleohydrological Context for Human\nSettlement and Water Use in the North-Central Coast of Peru\nMonday\, April 18\, 2022\n1:00 p.m. EDT • Bryand Global Sciences Center Room 100\n  \nJoin by Zoom:\nhttps://maine.zoom.us/\nj/81822509245?pwd=\nRUJSazA5Ym94TmV\nJbkYzK2xrNE8xQT09\n  \nWithin coastal Andean archaeology there is a growing emphasis on the\nrole of hydrology and hydrological knowledge in water management\nand land use strategies. Hydrological methods not only help reconstruct\npast water environments but also illuminate the influence of changing\nclimates and conditions in the Andean highlands on coastal water flows.\nThrough a case study of the Supe River basin in north-central coastal\nPeru\, I developed a paleohydrological model that provides a basis for\ncomparing the hydrological effects of changing climates and other\nenvironmental factors to settlement patterns and land use patterns.\n
